The Conclusion of an Epic, the Beginning of a new era for Indian Cinema

A film that cannot be reviewed and rated. It is far beyond that, in a league of its own. The film is phenomenal and a visual treat. I was completely speechless after watching Baahubali 2. The excellence of the film cannot be described in words. Baahubali 2 is all set to make and break many records as it has set a new benchmark for Indian cinema. A film that will be remembered and celebrated for the years to come. I felt really ecstatic and emotional as an aspiring filmmaker while watching the film. There were literally tears of joy in my eyes as I could feel the passion of the director S.S. Rajamouli and I was infected by his passion. I am truly inspired by this masterpiece. Watching the film was such an overwhelming experience. I feel so proud of our Indian cinema when a director like S.S. Rajamouli makes such a larger than life and spectacular film. It all takes a dream and the conviction to fulfil the dream in the form of a magnum opus. Director S.S. Rajamouli should take a bow for making such a brilliant film. The efforts and hard work of the entire cast and crew reflect in this masterpiece.

The film takes off with a creatively designed title sequence giving glimpses of the previous part of the film. The previous part left us with a lingering question that why did Katappa kill Baahubali? And then Baahubali 2 comes like a storm and blows your mind away. The film is completely entertaining with humour, romance, drama and action. The story continues from Amarendra Baahubali being declared as the successor to the throne of Mahishmati. Before the coronation ceremony Baahubali falls in love with Rajkumari Devasena. The father and son duo, Bijjaladeva and Bhallala Deva keep on planning and plotting against Baahubali. Bijjaladeva holds a grudge for not being the king of Mahishmati and losing the throne to his brother Mahadeva. His son loses the throne to Baahubali which angers him even more. He is so angry that he wants to kill Sivagami so that he can get Baahubali killed and declare his son as the king of Mahishmati. There is a rift between Baahubali and his mother Sivagami, the queen of Mahishmati, over a misunderstanding and the promises made by each of them. So, Bijjaladeva and Bhallala Deva take advantage of this by adding fuel to the fire and turn Sivagami against Baahubali. The film is laced with betrayal, revenge, revolt and politics.

The direction of the film by S.S. Rajamouli is marvellous. The story has been executed to perfection. He artistically crafts each and every frame of the film. His vision is magnificent and his visual storytelling is fantastic. The film is visually interesting which keeps the audience engrossed in the film. Hats off to the director for visualising such an epic film and mounting it on such a grand scale. Imagining a historic film and creating the entire world of the film with elements of fantasy is applaudable. The director crafts some really memorable moments in the film. He makes the actors live the characters and extracts brilliant performances from them. He explores the story and the characters nicely. The film talks of an era that nobody knows and is a complete figment of the director’s imagination which makes the visualisation unique and the film different.
